MOBILE METHANOL TERMINAL - Mobile, Alabama

Mission: To locate and develop a site and execute a long term agreement with Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. to build a
grass roots bulk liquid storage and handling terminal in Mobile, Alabama.  This would allow Air Products to shut down
their inefficient methanol  manufacturing plant located 65 miles away in Pace, FL by importing the methanol from 
South America. 

Project:
Engineered, designed, commissioned and operated the terminal that imports and supplies 60 million gallons per 
year of methanol. 

Terminal Features Include: 

• 10.5 million gallons of tankage erected on pre-cast concrete piled and concrete capped foundations 
• 24/7 Driver Loaded truck rack with 99.9% vapor combustion system 
• State of the art terminal automation system
• Channel dredging and dock modifications to accommodate 45,000 metric ton, 40 foot draft vessels
•  Dock piping system designed for 12,000 barrel per hour unloading rates – ship turnaround in less than 24 hours
• 2,500 gpm fire pump, fire loop and aqueous film forming fire suppression system 

Project Cost & Completion: 
$5.5 million October 2003 

Project Highlights:
Successfully designed, constructed, commissioned and operated the new terminal allowing Air Products to idle their 
Pace, Florida  Methylamines plant ahead of schedule saving millions of dollars.

Applied petroleum industry technology to provide 24\7 loading of chemical trucks that handles 55 million gallons per
 year.

 Successfully coordinated and commissioned the new terminal, new truck loading rack while incorporating 
 idling of plant, new state of the art tanker trucks and new marine fleet. 

Facility designed to withstand hurricanes which resulted in only one day out of service following Hurricane Ivan.

 Developed and administered training programs, procedures and operations plan.

ETHANOL BLENDING FACILITY - Atlanta, GA

Mission:
Engineer, design and construct an ethanol loading and unloading facility at an active gasoline terminal. 

Project:
Engineered, designed, constructed and commissioned an ethanol project which included: 

• Design, procurement and installation of a 10,000 gallon oil water separator complete with concrete containment  
• Decommission and closure of an existing underground oil water separator
• Design and installation of a vapor recovery unit to replace a vapor destruction unit.
• Structural design of pipe supports, concrete containment pads for truck unloading bay, oil water separator
  containment and embankment support, VRU foundation.
• Upgrade and replacement of terminal automation system and relay panel. 
• Design, procurement and installation of new 2000 amp motor control center and transformer.
• Design, installation and commissioning of nine sequential blender positions for 87, 93 and ethanol. 
• Design and installation of an ethanol unloading and measurement rack. 
• Design and refurbishment of a portable prover can complete with efficient evacuation pumping system. 
• Design, procurement of upgraded pumps and motors to improve loading rates at all 18 positions to 600 gpm. 
• Modified tank and piping to handle ethanol. 

Project Highlights: 
Secured all permits from the City of  Atlanta and Georgia Department of Environmental Protection. 
Completed project within a very tight timeline with no injuries. 
Solved numerous other hidden problems at the terminal during the project.

Mission:
Engineer and design a terminal to store and handle feed stocks to and from new 20 mm gallon per year Biodiesel production
 facility. 

Project:
Engineered, designed, constructed and commissioned an 8.4 million gallon terminal facility to support the production of B100 
(Biodiesel fuel) and the storage and handling of feedstocks, methanol and #2 diesel fuel. 

Terminal features include:

• 8.4 million gallons of tankage  
• 24\7 Driver loaded truck rack complete with blenders
• State of the art terminal automation system  
• Marine dock access with 2,000 barrel per hour unloading rates on  Lake  Ferguson
• Rail car loading and unloading system for diesel and feedstocks 
• Steam and electric heat tracing systems 

Project Highlights:
Provided interface with biodiesel plant engineers. 
Designed and constructed 2 mile pipelines from the terminal to the dock  located on Lake Ferguson Branch off the  Mississippi River. 
Specified and designed a state of the art multi-purpose truck rack. 
Designed and procured an 8 position rail car loading and unloading rack complete with automated loading and 
blending system. 
Developed all response plans including the ICP, SPCC, ERAP and Hazcomm Plans.
Developed plans for: Homeland  and DOT Security Plans; USCG Operations.
